Charlton Recycled Autoparts Ltd was founded in 1971 although it's founder, Ron Charlton, had been dismantling cars in his garage for several years. The Company started in Sawston, Cambridge, and from the outset specialised in dismantling modern vehicles. In contrast to the decline of many local "Junk Yards", Charlton's commitment to development ensured it's growth into a modern professional vehicle recycler.
Charlton's then introduced; mail order, van deliveries, and guarantees, and became a premier supplier of quality cleaned and tested secondhand parts.
In 2001 the business began to specialise in selling quality, guaranteed, cleaned and tested parts for Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Dodge, SmartCar and Chrysler/Jeep from their new premises in Thriplow.
After 26 years of trading Charlton's still operate to the same high standards as they did in 1971.
Charltons dismantle approx 300 vehicles each year and cover all models produced by their specialist brands, from the mid 90's to current year.
Charlton Recycled Autoparts Ltd is committed to environmentally sustainable methods of business. This commitment directs their use of recyclable materials and ensures that their methods minimise waste and pollution. Charlton’s take their responsibility to the environment seriously and firmly believe in the role they play in the recycling industry - helping to minimise the environmental effect of vehicle dismantling.
All of the vehicles that are handled by Charlton's undergo a stringent process of dismantling which ensures that all of the parts, including fluids, are correctly disposed of or recycled wherever possible. Charlton's methods are in strict adherence to the The European End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive (2000/53/EC).
These measures demonstrate Charlton's continuing dedication to the environment.
